Catch More This Winter!

We all know bites can be hard to come by during the colder months, which is why we have put together a few tips to help you put more carp on the bank.

Choose the right venue

Possibly one of the most important factors to a productive winter is the venue. If you are fishing a big, deep gravel pit the carp are likely to shut down as these waters tend to stay colder for longer, even in sunny spells. Our suggestion would be that a shallower venue would be better as they warm up much quicker and therefore during a sunny spell the carp will be more active than if you were to fish a deep pit.

Baiting application

Baiting application can make your winter or kill it off completely! Our suggestion would be to keep it simple and fish for a bite at a time. By doing this you are more likely to want to move around onto the fish as you haven't emptied all of your bait onto a spot. Personally I love a PVA bag all year round but more so in the winter, it is just enough to catch the carps attention, you know your always going to be fishing effectively and by using leaders or pva bag stems you can pre-tie them so you wont have to worry about making them up at stupid hours in the morning when it's chucking it down. With all that being said, if you are doing a campaign there is absolutely no doubt that pre baiting can be a game changer!

Be mobile

So many anglers will say they would be ready to pack up and move at the show of a fish, but how many really would? In the past I have been guilty of this, but the importance of location cannot be overlooked. Although comfort is important on the bank, could you get away with leaving some bits on the barrow read to move to the next swim? Don't forget, if you want to stay warm whilst not over packing your barrow, all you need is a Carp Chaos hoodie and a lightweight jacket incase it rains!
